Youtube VideoWelcome to The Beachcombing Center!

Our collection was founded as The Sea Glass Center in Maine in 2014. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to education about worldwide shoreline finds and raising awareness about coastal erosion and marine debris. We have just obtained a new museum building on Tilghman Island, Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, that is currently under renovation.

International pieces, as well as local collections from the Chesapeake Bay, including indigenous tribal artifacts, shark teeth and fossils, seashells, and shipwreck finds, will be rotated in special exhibits that will change in monthly and seasonal exhibits. Our collection also features a donation made by former first lady Barbara Bush, as well as a sample collection from the world-renowned collection of Nellie Myrtle Pritchard from the beachcombing museum in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Our location is close to the Eastern Shore Sea Glass Festival in St. Michaels, Maryland, the largest annual national festival, drawing over 10,000 enthusiastic beachcombers annually to the area, which takes place at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, as well as other regional coastal heritage and tourism attractions.

In addition to the permanent and rotating museum collections we have an ocean arts retail shop, When’s Low Tide that includes beach treasure candles and artisans from around the world who create art using gifts from the sea. Shop proceeds benefit The Beachcombing Center.

Please join us in raising funds to house our worldwide collection by making a donation today. All donations are tax-deductible. Visit our GoFundMe page to learn more »
